My Name is Mikel, and I Am a Photographer

I am also a mom, and a hobby farmer. I have 2 daughters, Miloh and Maisie, you may see them in my galleries. These girls are my muse and I could not (would not) do life without them. Miloh and Maisie are a constant reminder of how lucky I really am in life. How special it is to be able to document our journey with photography.

My Professional Life in a Nutshell:

I have been a part time photographer since 2011, and a full time photographer since 2016. Before photography, I traveled many career paths, including Nursing and Human Resources. Both are excellent career choices, however when you have this constant artistic nagging inside of you, you soon realize those aren’t the career paths that will make you most happy in this life. 

In 2016 I quit my job as a Human Resources Director and I opened my own photography studio. Believe me when I tell you, this was a scary jump. Scary, but oh so liberating! The world looked so different when I walked out of that corporate office. Since that day, I have had no desire to look back, and I have not experienced a single regret. This big move is one that I needed in order to feel right in this world. This move saved me from that comfortable life that I never wanted to live. 

I have a massive love for what I do and I intend to do what I love for as long as I can. Each year I feel more adventurous, more confident, and more challenged. I am ready to experience all that this world has to offer, and will be sure to get it on "film".
